Protect Our Oceans

Be part of the change

Real change happens when people come together. By supporting JARI, you become part of a growing movement to protect the ocean and strengthen coastal communities.

Why oceans matter

The ocean sustains life, regulating climate, supporting biodiversity, and providing food and livelihoods for millions of people. But its future depends on how we care for it today.

Protecting the ocean is not the responsibility of one group, it is a shared responsibility across communities, institutions, and individuals.

Indonesia and the Alas Strait

Indonesia is the world’s largest archipelago, with coastal communities deeply connected to the sea. In the Alas Strait, rich ecosystems such as coral reefs, seagrass, and mangroves support both biodiversity and livelihoods.

Yet these ecosystems face increasing pressure from unsustainable fishing, unmanaged tourism, and environmental change. Strengthening community leadership, improving data use, and building collaboration are key to ensuring long-term sustainability.
